letter from the editor
Flexible
Working
November is here and the holiday season is just around the
corner. This is the second last issue of HR Professional for
2017, and it’s hard to believe how fast the time has gone.
In this issue, our cover story explores remote working
and flexible working arrangements. In the story, Melissa Campeau
writes that individuals have embraced the idea of mobile and re-mote
work rather quickly, while organizations have taken a little
longer to catch on. However, changes to the way we work are in-evitable,
and organizations need to take advantage of this new
paradigm. Read Melissa’s article on page 16 to learn more about
remote and flexible working, and to gather ideas on how it could
work for your own organization.
Shifting gears, this is a reminder that registration is open for the
HRPA 2018 Annual Conference & Trade Show. In 2018, the con-ference
is Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. If you haven’t seen the keynote speaker
line-up yet, I highly suggest checking it out. This will be my fifth
time attending the show, and I’m very much looking forward to it.
It’s a can’t-miss event in the Canadian HR profession, and I really
hope to see you there. I’m already so excited and am about to dive
into Dr. Brené Brown’s newest book, Braving the Wilderness, in
preparation for her keynote speech. Visit HRPAconference.ca for
more information and to register now.
Remember to connect with us on LinkedIn, Twitter and
Facebook, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of the November
issue of HR Professional. See you in December!
Happy reading,
Jill Harris
