LOUISE TAYLOR GREEN
Louise Taylor Green is CEO of HRPA. She previously served two consecutive terms as an elected direc-tor
of HRPA from 2007-2012. Prior to joining HRPA, Taylor Green served as the senior vice-president
and CHRO at Economical Insurance where she led a values-based culture transformation program which
laid the foundation for two industry game-changing digital innovation initiatives. With a diverse career
spanning more than 25 years, Taylor Green has a unique perspective as an HR professional; informed by
her lived-experience in leading operations, sales, strategy and HR in both the public and private sector.
She holds an MBA from Athabasca University and studied Human Resources Management at McMaster
University earning her CHRM. She is a regulated HR professional, holding both the CHRL and CHRE
designations. Her article exploring the difference between “work culture” and “climate” begins on page 10.
CLAUDE BALTHAZARD
Claude Balthazard is registrar and vice president, regulation at the Human Resources Professionals
Association. Since joining HRPA in March 2007, Balthazard has championed the cause of the profes-sionalization
of HR. He has developed HRPA’s Rules of Professional Conduct, pushed for a new public
act and led the development of HRPA’s updated Human Resources Competency Framework and its
new designation framework. A registered psychologist in Ontario, Balthazard has a PhD in Psychology
from the University of Waterloo and holds the CHRL designation. On page 16, he shares the findings
of the public’s opinion of HR professionals.
LORENZO LISI
Lorenzo Lisi is the leader of the Workplace Law Group at Aird & Berlis. He has practised exclusively
in the area of labour and employment law for almost 30 years, representing employers on all areas
touching labour and employment law, both provincially and federally. His expertise spans the broad
spectrum of workplace law, whether it be defending employers against employee claims or dealing with
a unionized workplace. He has extensive experience in grievance and labour board litigation, injunctive
proceedings, responding to union organizing and applications for certification, collective bargaining and
grievance arbitration. Lisi’s article on cannabis compliance begins on page 21.
DR. DAVID S. WEISS
Dr. David S. Weiss, PhD., ICD.D, FCHRE, is president and CEO of Weiss International Ltd., spe-cializing
in innovation, leadership and HR consulting. Dr. Weiss is the author or co-author of seven
books including Leadership-Driven HR ( Jossey-Bass, 2013) and Innovative Intelligence (Wiley, 2011,
also available in Chinese and Farsi), which was a “top five business book for 2011” reported by CBC
News. He has been honoured by the Government of Canada with the “Distinguished Lecturer” cer-tificate,
the Asia-Pacific HR Congress with the “HR Leadership Award” and HRPA with the lifetime

MICHAEL SERBINIS
Michael Serbinis is the CEO and founder of League, a next generation health and benefits platform that
is set to disrupt the world of insurance. Prior to League, Serbinis was the founder and CEO of Kobo,
a global leader in ebooks and docSpace, a pioneer in cloud storage. He got his start building one of the
first search engines, Zip2, at the start of the internet boom. The article he wrote on the future of health
insurance can be found on page 33.
