Welcome to the HRPA 2019 Annual Conference &
Trade Show! I am so excited to be here with every-one
to experience all of the latest and greatest in
products and services at the trade show, amazing
information sessions and keynote presentations by some of today’s
greatest thought leaders. The next three days are sure to be jam-packed
from the moment our boots hit the floor and I couldn’t be
more thrilled about it.
What is on your must-see list? I’m hoping to find a spot for
Tarana Burke’s keynote address, “Leading Voices Amplify Call for
Change: #MeToo,” at 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 30, sponsored by Atlas
Canada. For those who are unaware, Burke is the founder of the
#MeToo movement. Be sure to read about each of the thought
leaders at the conference on page 66. Each of their presentations is
sure to be highly engaging and informative.
You will be able to find the conference theme, Work Climate,
throughout the pages of this special HRPA Conference & Trade
Show edition of HR Professional. All facets of the workplace are
experiencing a climate change, from Boomers retiring and Gen Z
entering the workforce to cannabis legalization and more harass-ment
claims; and HR has to be front and centre to navigate these
new shifts. Our cover story, on page 10, explores how work climate
is the engine that fuels culture transformation.
This year’s conference and trade show has some exciting new
offerings. Attendees can have a one-on-one free coaching session
with certified coaches, the MindLabb Lounge will have mind-fulness
meditation and the Student Success Forum is a great
opportunity for HR students. Find details on all this and more
beginning on page 57. Don’t forget to download the new and
improved conference app! The app has lots of new features that are
sure to help you get the most out of your conference experience.
As always, I love hearing your feedback and comments – please
feel free to find me at the conference, leave a comment at HRPA’s
booth in the trade show or send me a message through HR
Professional’s Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter pages.
Enjoy the conference!
