CHING MAC
Ching Mac has been living in the Greater Toronto Area for over 25 years and earned an engineering
degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. With over 15 years of experience in the informa-tion
technology field, Mac was an IT and software sales consultant and account executive prior to Citrix
Canada. Today, Mac is responsible for the overall management of the commercial business across the
Citrix product portfolio, leading teams focused on field and channel engagement with end customers.
He has been at Citrix for 13 years, previously holding several leadership positions on the Canadian man-agement
team. Mac’s article on balancing cybersecurity and convenience starts on page 41.
LAURA SHERBIN
Laura Sherbin is co-president at the Center for Talent Innovation and a managing partner at Hewlett
Consulting Partners. She is an economist who specializes in the creation of competitive advantage
through inclusion and diversity. She taught “Women and Globalization” at the School of International
and Public Affairs at Columbia University and is a co-author of several Harvard Business Review arti-cles,
Harvard Business Review Research Reports and CTI reports. She earned her PhD in economics
from American University. Her article explores how sponsorship is the secret to improving diversity in
Canadian companies, it begins on page 43.
DEREK SMITH
Derek Smith joined Xref in January 2018 as general manager for Xref North America. His knowl-edge
of the North American HR market, specifically in relation to candidate screening, coupled with
his extensive background in sales, marketing and leadership roles in high profile, technology companies
including Apple and HP, make him the perfect addition to the team in a market that poses significant
